Masculinity Again

I agree with the previous post that Mr. Thompson is absolutely hung up on his masculinity, or lack thereof, regarding his workplace. Specifically, on page 233, he runs around in circles, contemplating the differences between men and women in the workforce. I cannot see the point to his ignorant argument, being that he continues his "women's work," while Mr. Helton takes on the masculine role in the dairy. Mr. Thompson's concern for what others think frustrated me, and I felt sympathy for Mrs. Thompson throughout the entire story because of the way he treated her, and also because of what she didn't know about his character.
