Noon Wine
There is a very odd sense of loyalty and truth in "Noon Wine" Weather it be the sons, and the parents, or Mr. and Mrs. Thompson there seemed to be an unsettlingly disconnectedness between the husband and wife, but most notably between, Mr. Hatch, and the rest of the characters there is a true lack of understanding. Porter, I think, does this in a lot of her stories to keep the momentum and tension palpable, and keep the reader asking questions. Especially with the arrival of the "Fat Man" there is a skewed sense of what really happened, and shame and guilt that can't be justified away.
